Investing in Our Team

A Message from Deirdra Walsh, Chief Operating Officer of Park City Mountain

At Park City Mountain, our patrollers are an important part of what makes our resort special. We deeply value the dedication and passion they bring to creating a safe and memorable experience for our guests and community, and we are proud of the investments we have made to recognize their commitment through higher wages, enhanced benefits, extensive training opportunities, and new leadership development.

I personally take great pride in Park City Mountain's long-standing connection to the vibrant community I have called home for almost 20 years. From supporting local businesses to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of our team members, Park City Mountain remains dedicated to our shared future as a positive presence for the employees and residents that make this area so extraordinary.

Investing In Patrol

  • Patrol wages at Park City Mountain have increased more than 50% over the past four seasons, far outpacing inflation.
  • The average wage for a seasonal patroller at the resort is over $25/hour.
  • Experienced patrollers with specialized skills at the resort make 35% more on average than entry level patrollers.
  • The resort provides patrollers with extensive training and education, plus resources and equipment.
  • Our wages and benefits are attracting strong talent; this season across our 37 North American mountain resorts, we had nearly 3,000 applicants for only 300 open patrol roles.
  • Returning patrollers' wages will increase 4% on average this season under Park City Mountain's wage proposal.
  • The wage proposal also includes a $1,600 equipment allowance for patrollers.
  • The wages and benefits proposed have been accepted by unionized and non-unionized patrol at our other mountain resorts. They reflect specialized skills and the needs of individual resorts.

Putting Employees At The Center

We have made significant investments in the employee experience. Examples include:

  • Affordable housing for 440 Park City Mountain team members in the new Slopeside housing development in Canyons Village.
  • Access to affordable healthcare options and 401(k) retirement plans.
  • Free mental health benefits for employees, their dependents, and roommates.
  • Continued investments in Epic Service, the company's frontline talent development program.
  • 40% off at hundreds of company-operated retailers, which include top ski and snowboard brands.
  • Vail Resorts was recently named one of America's Most Admired Companies by Newsweek for its continued commitment to employees.

Employee  Support

In the last eight years, the Epic Promise Employee Foundation has provided Park City Mountain employees and their families with:

  • 150 hardship relief grants to help employees facing an emergency,  providing more than $425,000.
  • 47 scholarships for higher education tuition, providing nearly $200,000 of support to pursue their education.
